This tradition comes from Asia, as you may have surmised. The idea is that the noodles represent long life, and if you eat noodles on New Year's Ever (or Day), you will have a long life. There is a condition, though: you cannot break the noodles until all the strands are in your mouth! If you like noodle-based dishes, then you're in luck.
